Original Meaning:
1. a superpower
2. to strengthen a country

New Definition:
China. (derogatory)
This term contains the meaning of “金玉其外,敗絮其中” , which means “Gold and jade outside, rotten cotton inside” literally.

Etymology:
In the last decade, “太空強國”, which means “space strong country” literally (superpowers of space exploration), was constantly used by mass media to refer China after her successes in space exploration. However, on the cyberspace, “強國” evolves to become a derogatory/satirical term. Nowadays, netizen use “強國” exclusively on negative things about China. For example,
