Apple Daily Condemned for Putting Zhang Ziyi on Front Page

The original front page for Apple Daily on 24th Nov 2013 was Zhang Ziyi’s winning the best actress in the Golden Horse, aka Taiwan’s Oscar. However, as a baby girl was abducted by Mainland Chinese in Kowloon city, netizens condemned the newspaper for putting a non-local affair before an important local issue. The newspaper changed its front page in the end. Still, netizens criticised Apple Daily for its unwillingness of putting “Mainland Chinese” in the headline, unlike what Oriental Daily did.
